Statement of David Gardiner
President, David Gardiner and Associates
As the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and many others remind us, Black Americans still face systemic racial injustice. We grieve for those who have needlessly died. While we will never be able to put ourselves in the shoes of the Black community, we pledge to do the best job we can to be empathetic allies.
Ultimately, the fight for racial justice will only be won by actions which each of us, especially white Americans, take. Thus, we also pledge to take these actions: to be active allies in the fight against racial injustice, speaking out wherever we may see it; to improve our efforts as an employer to diversify our staff and expand our mentorship and internships for Black students; and to continue our daily work to reduce pollution which disproportionately harms communities of color and which is a part of the systemic racial injustice which Black Americans confront every day.
We recognize that it will be important to maintain the momentum of this moment in history to achieve real change. We will continue to engage in conversations about other actions that we, as employers and members of the climate and clean energy community, can take to help win the fight for racial justice.
