Today, the Alliance urged the Tennessee Valley Authority to include measures to increase deployment of combined heat and power and waste heat to power in its 2015 Integrated Resource Plan, which establishes TVA’s power generation strategy. TVA’s stated goal is to establish a “cleaner and more secure energy future, relying more on nuclear power and energy efficiency and relying less on coal.” The Alliance explained that combined heat and power and waste heat to power should play a key role in this energy future. We highlighted CHP and WHP’s economic, environmental and reliability benefits, and the tremendous deployment potential in the seven-state region that TVA serves.
